I hope you have had a great time with your families and managed to find even a little time to rest. I am looking forward to 2020 here at RVS and what God has for us. There are still two weeks until the start of the school year (Monday, 3rd February) but I wish to communicate some important messages as early as I can.
1 - Opportunity to Meet your Teacher - If you are new to RVS, or have not yet met your child/ren’s new teacher/s, we have a chance for you to do that on Monday, 27th January from 1:30pm to 2:30pm (a week before school starts). The teachers will be in their classrooms setting up and will be happy to meet anyone who wishes to pop in and say hello. This is a casual arrangement and only for those who wish to do so.
2 - Late last year the Board of Trustees opted in to the Ministry of Education’s Donations Free Scheme. You can read more about this here. While we will no longer be asking for donations, the Attendance Dues requested by the Proprietor will still be required. This is a different fee entirely and is part of state integrated schooling. I will write more about this in my first blog later in Week One.
3 - Open evening - Save the date. The first Tuesday back at school (4th February, 5:30pm – 7.00pm) we will host our BYO picnic, meet the teacher and open evening. You will all have the chance to look at the new building on this evening also. More info to follow.
4 - Uniform - Unfortunately there has been a hold-up at the production end of the uniform process. Our new uniform will not be ready, possibly for even another Term. We are incredibly disappointed by this and apologise for the ongoing frustration this causes. I thank those at this end who have put in a lot of work.
We know you will not want to buy the old uniform with the new uniform on its way, so we have decided on the following plan:
Continue wearing current RVS school uniform.
Wear RVS current PE Uniform. Some sizes (PE Tops) are still available to purchase at the school office for $18.
3rd Preference: (Whole School)
Plain bottle green, navy blue, white or black polo shirt
White Blouse (Girls)
Dark grey, navy or black shorts/skorts (not tight or short in keeping with current RVS uniform or PE shorts)
Black or Navy trousers (girls only in place of school skirt)
Shoe/sandal options remain the same
Kmart, Postie and The Warehouse sell many of the items listed above.
As mentioned, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this. While we want our students looking tidy, grace will be given for uniform until the supplier can deliver the uniform we have ordered and we are on track again. We will keep you in the loop with how things are progressing. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
