Our scripture for term 1:
Ephesians 4 1-9
Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ4 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it[a] says:
“When he ascended on high,
he took many captives
and gave gifts to his people.”[b]
9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions[c]?
Each student will receive a stationery pack on their first day, this will be charged to your school account. Students will only need to bring a pencil case from home. Ordering stationery as a school brings the cost down considerably for our families.
We also encourage all students from Years 7 upwards to begin using their own laptop at school. We strongly recommend you consider this option for your child as the use of such devices allows our students to access a wide range of opportunities for learning which are beyond the walls of the classroom. Students using devices are able to collaborate in solving real-world problems and to develop the essential learning skills that are needed for life in the 21st Century.
Athletics rotations will take place every Tuesday and Wednesday of term 4 weeks 1-3. Please ensure your child has correct PE uniform. Students bring their uniform and change during lunch break.
Students will attend the Technology Centre on Mondays week 1 and week 2 of term 4. This concludes their lessons for the year.
Year 8 John 1;1-14
Year 7 Philippians 4 ;4-9
Students need to learn their scripture by the end of week 7 please.
PE gear is required on Tuesdays for the duration of the term. Tuesday week 10 is also a privilege MUFTI day. Bring PE gear or wear appropriate clothing. No denim for sports please.
Week 10 Wed-Fri will be Fundamentals. School PE gear is required each day.
Middle school update
We are over halfway through the term already, time is flying.
A big Thank you to all who turned out for the school interviews. We hope you found them as valuable as we did. If you were unable to make it we are happy for you to pop in and see us or make an appointment with your child's classroom teacher.
Year 6/7/8 Camp at Teapot Valley was a valuable time for our students. They were challenged in a safe, fun and positive environment and participated in a wide variety of outdoor education activities. Thank you to our Room 5 and 6 teachers Mrs Johnson and Mrs Wilson and our wonderful team of Parent helpers - Mr Cameron, Mrs Foote, Mrs Watson, Mr Kim, Mr Doreen and Mr Van der Westhuizen. Without your help we would be unable to offer such amazing experiences for our students.
We welcome back Mr Pauling next week after his time away on sabbatical and look forward to the continuation of the development of buildings and programmes for RVS.
If you have any questions or concerns within the middle school (room 5, 6 and year 9) please do not hesitate to contact me.
