Welcome to the new school year! By the sounds of Room One’s holiday stories you have all had a great summer break. Beaches, camping, fishing, swimming, BBQ’s, both national and international trips all such wonderful experiences! I’m thrilled to start the year with 14 gorgeous little ones. This year we have had 4 new students join our RVS community. Welcome Jordana, Anthony, Noah and Sarang. It is so great to have you and your families joining the Room One team.
We have such a busy beginning of term with learning new routines, swimming, our parent evening and our goal setting interviews. (Information about these will be going shortly).
I believe that communication is key in the success of your child and a great teacher/parent relationship. I encourage you to contact me of you have any questions or concerns at any time. This year I look forward to working with you to develop your child's learning. In order to support your child’s learning, I ask that you ensure he or she:
- Arrives at school each day on time and ready to learn.
- Completes daily Reading/ Early Words Homework (You will be notified when your child is starting the Early Words Programme)
- Reads for a minimum of 15 minutes a day.
Reading Homework

On Fridays children will bring home a poetry folder (A4 clear file) with a poem that we have been reading and discussing as part of our language programme for that week. Please read this with your child and ask your child about some of the things they have discussed or learnt in class to do with this poem. Children are free to read their own reading books over the weekend. Please remember to fill in their reading log as students have reading milestones to reach and the more books read the quicker they reach their target.
Important notes for Swimming

- Please pack swimming gear in a separate bag.
- Ensure all school uniform, togs, towel, bag and shoes are labelled.
- Please make sure your child brings their booster seat to school everyday.
A few notes for the Term
Room One will be running Assembly in Week 4 (26th February)
Uniform:
Please make sure your child is wearing the correct uniform. Any questions please come and see me or Maria in the office. Little accidents sometimes happen at school so it may be a good idea to pack a spare pair of shorts and underwear in their school bag for these occurrences.
P.E Day:
P.E day is going to be Thursdays for this term only and students need to wear their full school P.E gear with sneakers to school on Thursdays.

TUESDAY NIGHT, 9th February, 6:30pm to 7:45pm
There will be a child-minding service in the hall
(Ages 5 to 12).
