Hello! Kia Ora!
It’s great to be back and it’s going to be another fabulous year.
As per last year Rooms 3 & 4 will be working co-operatively across the curriculum. This allows our children to work with different adults, engage in different relationships and work with their own learning style. Mr. Brown and I will be assisted this year with our amazing Class Teacher Aides – Mrs. Pauling, Mrs. Foote, Mrs. MacMillan and Mrs. Ramsay for some/all of our morning lessons.
Please remember sun hats are to be worn this term. All school uniform, shoes included should be named.

Literacy Focus – Recount and Explanation Writing
Maths Focus – Number Knowledge, Number Strategies & Measurement

Health – What can I do when I get angry?
PE – Week 3 intensive sports week – various Marlborough Sports co-ordinatirs will come in to teach a variety of sports
Art – The Art of Rueben Paterson
Scripture Verses – It is a fundamental part of our Learning here at RVS that all children are required to learn their Termly Scriptures. These are put on the class web pages each term at the start of the school holidays and a paper copy is also given out. This Scripture is required to be learnt by the end of week 8.
This Terms Scripture verses follows at the end.
Homework
Spelling Homework is given out on a Monday and due to be practiced for the Friday assessment.
Mathletics and StudyLadder
Mathletics and StudyLadder are NOT homework programmes. They should be used to support your child’s in-class learning. It is advisable that your child spends no more than 15/20 minutes 3 / 4 times per week on these.
Reading
Reading will come home Monday to Thursday evenings. Please sign your child’s reading log each night.
Reading texts may take on many different forms – scripture reading, letters, articles etc.
A Text will be read 2 or 3 times some weeks. This allows us to ensure that our children are reading for meaning not simply memorizing. Mr. Brown and I set work relating to the texts each day.
PE
Our PE day this term will be Monday. Children are required to have full PE uniform and PE shoes. Please see the RVS website for more details about uniform.
Water
Please ensure that your child has a named water bottle.
