Your child will come home with a book and a reading log Monday - Wednesday. On Thursdays they will be asked to select a book of their choice to take home.
Research has shown that there is a direct correlation between reading at home and school and the impact this has on a child's levels of achievement. "Reading and storytelling with your child promotes brain development and imagination, teaches your child about language and emotions, and strengthens your relationship". www.Raising children.net.au
The impact of reading 20 mins each day.
We would ask that you set aside 15- 20 minutes each night to actively listen to your child read. Once you have heard your child read we would ask that you talk about what he/she has read, even ask them to retell the story to you, or ask them questions about what they have read.
The Reading Log needs to be signed by a parent/Grandparent and returned to school each day along with the reading book and spelling notebook.
Please help us to help your child succeed.
We work best when we work together.
