What a huge term it has been!  Here are just a few of the cool things we have to thank God for.

New BOT Chairman

9/4/2016

Dear Parents / Caregivers

I wish to inform you of the change of our school’s Board of Trustees Chairman.

Owen Wilson, who has acted as our Board’s Chairman for the past 4 years has resigned as Chairman.  Owen feels that his new job, which takes him out of the Marlborough region, makes it difficult to effectively fulfil his role and provide the level of support he would like to give the school and the Board of Trustees.

“I know we have a great School, an anointed Principal in Dave, great Teachers, and a wonderful Board of Trustees at Richmond View School.  I wish you God’s richest Blessings and continued guidance through the years as you stretch and grow into the amazing school that God has in mind for Blenheim.”
Owen Wilson

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Owen for all his support over the years.  Owen will remain a trustee on our Board until the upcoming board elections this year.

Congratulations to Michael Ponder who has been elected our new Board of Trustees Chairman.  Mike was previously elected by the Board as Deputy Chair when there was a possibility of Owen’s new job taking him out of the area.  Succession planning is something the BOT has in its strategic plan and this has been a smooth transition.

I have no doubt in Mike’s ability to fulfil the role of Chairman and look forward to working more closely with him.  Mike has a real heart for the school, being an ex-student himself, he currently has 3 children in the school with his youngest starting later in the year.

If you have any questions or concerns please call me, email me at principal@rvs.school.nz or come and see me.

RVS Timeline Unveiling

1/4/2016

Picture
Thanks to the hard work of Mrs Fransen, Miss G, Mrs Gorrie and Mr Elwood, we have a new RVS timeline!  It spans most of the hallway in A Block and was unveiled today.
It is a must see so please take the time to have a look.  Bring a phone or tablet with a QR or barcode reader so you can scan the QR codes for more information on different events on the timeline.  1800 is the first event and 2016 is the latest.  The timeline is a part of the RVS 35th celebrations and our Enviroschools learning.

Changes to Rm's 3 & 4 Next Term

1/4/2016

This notice will come home in paper form tonight.

Dear Parents / Caregivers
God is good.  There is so much happening around the school that is exciting at the moment.  One of these developments is the fact that we will have over 126 students on the roll on the first day of Term 2 this year.  When we reach 126 we officially receive funding from the government for our sixth teacher & our sixth classroom.
We wish to capitalise on this opportunity by creating a new class of students, beginning on the first day of Term 2.  They will be housed very comfortably in the RVS Library until the completion of the new RVS classroom.  The new class will be taught by Mrs Crossley and will be made up of all of the Year 4 & 5 boys, creating a new class and significantly lowering the numbers in Rooms 3 and 4 in the process.  Room 3 will continue to be taught by Mrs Powell.
A few key points:

 - The RVS Library will still be open at lunchtimes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

 - Classes will still visit the library to get books out

 - New furniture has been ordered for the library classroom

 - The new class will remain involved with everything they have been previously, such as cross
grouping, school responsibilities, science days with Mr Elwood etc

 - They will also join with Room 4 for PE and Room 3 for The Arts

 - The RVS Music Academy and LEGs will continue but in a different area, over near the hall or in
    the  Den
We are excited about the fact Rooms 3 and 4 will reduce in number, and about the idea of having a class which will focus on learning that is specifically engaging for boys.  Also considered in the decision to send these particular students was the keeping together of peer groups.

Building work on the new classroom will begin shortly and we are looking forward to a creative new space, I will keep you posted through the school website http://www.rvs.school.nz/future.html.  I will also provide details on how 2017 classes will be laid out later in the year.

If you have any questions or concerns please call me, email me at principal@rvs.school.nz, or come and see me and I will be happy to talk through it with you.
Yours in Christ
