Summer
Football - Game Rules
1.
At the start of the halves (and
to restart after a goal is scored) a kick
off is taken from the centre
spot.
(a)
Attacking team players no further forward than the kicker.
(b)
Defending team should all be behind their own ¼ line at kick
off.
2.
Ball goes out over the
sidelines - The
ball is to be passed in by foot (by a member of the team who
did not kick the ball out) when it goes out over the
sideline. This is instead of a throw-in. A goal cannot
be scored directly from a kick from the sideline.
3.
Players must stand 5 metres from any free-kick, or kick-in to
restart play, until the kick has been taken.
4.
Ball goes over the goal
line
(a)
Kicked out by the attacking team - Restart play from the goal
arc by a member of the defending team. The attacking
team must all be behind the defending team’s quarter line
for a goal kick restart.
(b)
Kicked out by the defending team - Corner kick is taken by
the attacking team. All players allowed in the
attacking quarter.
5.
Goal kicks cannot
go over the half way line on the full. An indirect free
kick from the half way line is awarded to the other team if
this happens.
6.
There are no
off-sides, however
NO player (attacking or
defending) can go into the goal
arc area other than to retrieve a dead (stationary) ball and
only the defending team can go in after the referee says so.
7.
A
defender may travel through the
circle to defend as long as they do not touch the ball.
If a defending player enters the goal arc to defend an
attacking shot and touches the ball inside the circle, then a
direct
free kick is given to the attacking team player who last
touched the ball.
Grade
1: 5-6 yrs –taken from the apex of the goal arc directly in
front of the goal
Grade
2: 7-8 yrs - taken at a point half way between the goal arc &
the quarter line directly in front of the goal
Grade
3: 9-10 yrs & Grade 4: 11-14 yrs - taken at a point on
the quarter line directly in front of the goal
8.
Fouls:
will result in a free indirect
kick to the opposing team. Fouls = any play that may
cause injury (e.g kicking from behind, pushing, foot tripping
etc.)
9.
Scoring:
Goals can only be scored if the goal scorer is outside the
goal arc (circle marked in front of the goal) and inside the
quarter line of the defending team. If any part of the
player scoring the goal is judged to be within the goal arc,
the goal is disallowed and the defending team has a free kick
from the goal arc.
12.
Additional Criteria for Scoring
(11yr-14yrs and
Adult grade): All attacking
players must be in the defending team’s half, and
the goal shooter inside the last quarter for the goal to
count.
13.
Goals cannot be scored directly from
kick-ins, or indirect free kicks or a restart from the
centre.
14.
Refereeing
of games - It is up to each
team to referee half a game each. Please remember
summer football is all about having FUN. It’s not the
World Cup!
End
