ATTENDANCE
AND TRUANCY
Parent
Responsibilities
Parents
are legally required under the Education Act 1989, sections 20
and 24, to enrol their children (between the ages of six to 16
inclusive) at a registered school. They should also ensure
their children attend every day the school is open,
unless the child is genuinely sick.
Richmond
View School Responsibilities
Boards
of Trustees are legally required (Education Act 1989 S25) to
take all reasonable steps to ensure students enrolled in its
school attend the school whenever it is open. They have
certain powers to assist them in this requirement (Education
Act 1989 Section 31). They are also
required to ensure that non-attendance at their school is
recorded, investigated and assessed
and to assign resources to monitor and maintain school
attendance.
Complaints
Procedure Policy:
Richmond View School is committed to continuous improvement.
Complaints provide us with vital information that enables us to
effect improvements.
The
correct procedure for complaints is that:
1.
In the first instance, complaints should be directed to the
staff member concerned.
2.
If the matter is not satisfactorily resolved, the issue should
then be taken to the Principal.
3.
If the matter remains still unresolved after 1. and 2. above,
then it should be presented to the Chairperson of the
Board of Trustees.
Complaints
are to be received either by:
Telephone.
In
Writing:
A letter to the Principal outlining the complaint.
In
Person:
Via the School Office during office hours (8:30am-1pm
Monday-Friday). If office staff are unable to solve the
problem, they will make an appointment with the person who can.

National
Standards
What
are we doing here at Richmond View School?
The
reading, writing and maths standards are used by teachers to:
·
plan and teach what your child needs to learn in reading,
writing and maths across all curriculum subjects
·
work out where your child is at
·
work out your child’s next learning steps and set goals for
learning, together with you and your child
·
report clearly at least twice a year to you about your
child’s progress and achievement in relation to the
