CURRICULUM
The
New Zealand Curriculum is a statement of official policy
relating to teaching and learning in New Zealand schools. It
sets the direction for student learning and provides guidance
for schools as they design and review their curriculum.
Richmond View School uses the ‘Interact’ programme which is
designed for New Zealand Christian Schools to deliver the New
Zealand Curriculum.
By
applying The New Zealand Curriculum it is the aim of this
school to provide an educational programme of the highest
standard which will equip all students for success, both now
and in the future, and meet it’s obligations to the National
Administration and Education Guidelines.
1.To
enable each student to acquire the skills, attitudes and
knowledge they will need to become complete and
fully mature individuals: spiritually, mentally,
socially and physically.
2.To
recognise each student as an individual and to cater for their
individual needs and interests.
3.
To assist each student to attain levels of excellence in all
aspects of learning.
By
regularly and consistently measuring each student's progress
against specific objectives
By
providing a programme which enables each student to progress
at their own rate and at a level at which they can succeed
4.To
enable each student to assume responsibility for their own
learning and to become independent learners.
By
teaching each student the skills of goal setting and time
management
By
providing incentives and rewards that teach each student the
benefits of diligence in their work
By
teaching each student positive and creative work habits
By
making each student accountable for their learning
5.To
enable each student to apply what they have learned in a
practical and effective manner so that others may benefit.
By
providing a programme and environment that will teach each
student corporate responsibility
By
teaching each student self discipline and to be considerate of
others
By
teaching each student the skills needed to effectively
communicate in a variety of situations
6.To
enable each student to assimilate, use and experience the
benefits of what is learned and to see their relevance to every
day life.
By
providing practical learning opportunities whenever possible
By
equipping each student for their future vocations, calling and
role in life.
7.To
provide for New Zealand's Cultural Diversity Richmond View will
work with our Maori
and
Pacific Island communities to plan, set targets and achieve the
best outcomes for our Maori and Pacific Island pupils.
By
providing opportunities for all pupils to participate and
succeed through the advancement of education initiatives,
education in Te Reo Maori and advancement of the principles of
the Treaty of Waitangi.
By
promoting respect for the diverse ethnic and cultural heritage
of all nationalities represented at our school.
By
promoting acknowledgement of the unique place of Maori within
New Zealand.
By
providing Te Reo Maori for all pupils, will be part of our
school programme from Years 1-8.
By
recognising that we are all New Zealanders, that God loves all
people and that we are all equal in His sight.
